CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Hi everyone, my name is Gabby and this is me coming to you for help with a project I’m working on. I am currently doing work based around the theme of sentimentality not based in nostalgia but in future sight. Send us your love is the submission part of this project and key to its success. What I aim to do is gather as many letters as i can all based around this common theme of dreaming about future love and all the emotions it can encompass.
With these letters I plan to publish a small book sometime in mid 2012. Along with this book and based around excerpts from the submissions I get I also plan on creating illustrations to go with the book.
You may ask why would I want to take time out to do this and why should you want to submit a letter? The whole point of this project is to revalidate the emotion of sentimentality. Most contribute sentimentality as drama and emotions stuck in the past but this is not what i see to be true. Sentimentality is the key to the more tender sides of human emotion and connectivity allowing us as humans to open our hearts to romanticism, compassion, and hope. I want to reclaim sentimentality for everyone and make it something to not be embarrassed of. My hope for this project is that it helps people reconnect with sentimentality and that seeing that others have similar emotions and thoughts helps us connect with each other.
All I ask of you out there is to visit my project site and consider writing a letter. It will be updated regularly with letters and images I create. The url is:
Just think of your future spouse, partner, love, the one you want to spend your life with and write them a letter. It could be to someone you already know or someone you have yet to meet. That letter you can send to me anonymously either via e-mail, tumblr submit, or good old fashioned snail-mail. The only rule to these letters is just leave out names, yours included. Take this space as an opportunity to be honest, send your love to the one you envision loving, tell them your story, hopes, dreams, wish them well, tell them your fears, say you miss them, maybe you think you won’t meet them, maybe you lost them, maybe you just long for some unknown mystery person, tell them whatever you want. You could write a saga or just one line. Just be genuine.
If you’ve read this far I thank you. If you are inspired to write a letter I thank you doubly. Maybe since you’re already here you can reblog this post as well and follow my project site? I could use all the help I can get and hope this project inspires enough people to hopefully work against the negative connotation of sentimentality and allows them to dream of love fully.
Again my site is:
Thanks everyone!
